Description: Extremely rare example of a VG rolled formal presentation award document (with fold-over leaf) for the Oak Leaves to the Knight`s Cross of the Iron Cross, awarded on May 10, 1943 to Army Lieutnant-General Willibald Borowietz, commander of the 10th Rifle Regiment at the time. Beautiful hand-lettered in reddish-brown ink with gilt emblem and name on white parchment. Only 882 of these were actually awarded. This document is accompanied by an illustrated biographical sheet on Willibald.[Note: Willibald was taken prisoner by U.S. Forces in Tunisia on the very first day he served there and was brought to the United States, where he died on July 1, 1945 in an accident during a work detail.] Rare opportunity to obtain one of these pieces, whose value would be well over $18,000 with if it was housed in the casket.
