Description: This tunic & the lw assault gunner wrap-around on the auction both came out of the same attic the WWII Veteran had stored them in since the war. No doubt he liberated them both from a clothing depot at the end of the war. Shown in Angolia/Schlicht LW book Vol.2 page 283, also in Bender/Petersen 1975 "HG"-book pages 134-135 group shot showing both styles of uniforms in use. Page 116 states white collar tabs no longer worn after Jan.3, 1944 order. Looks to be fair/medium size gray/brown wool body, 4-patch pockets & 6-blue/gray button front. 4-blue/gray painted steel belt ramps. Gray plastic buttons to cuff slash & around neck for collar liner. Loops & pebbled buttons for removable shoulder straps. Gray embr. eagle on blue/gray wool is zig-zag machine sewn on thru partial lining.
