Thousands of historic collectibles will be offered for a $1 reserve price on July 4, 2007 through www.manions.com

Kansas City, Kan. (June 22, 2007) - On July 4^th, 1778 General George Washington instructed his army to put “green boughs” in their hats, issued double rations of rum, and ordered a Forth of July artillery salute. Interestingly enough, over two centuries later Washington’s image remains on another “green bough” of sorts – the US one dollar bill.

On July 4^th, 2007 Manion’s International Auction House will enable bidders to get the most out of their buck by introducing a special $1 reserve auction.

“We are in the process of setting thousands of items to close on Independence Day,” said Manion’s representative John Conway. “Each of these items will have a reserve bid of $1.”

Many of these items offered were previous inventory of the Museum of World Wars, boasting one of the largest WWII military uniform collections outside of the Smithsonian Institute.

“The Museum of World Wars collection was massive,” said Conway. “We’ve brokered the sale of quite a bit of the inventory, but we have so much consignment coming in we have to make room. It seems suiting that on Independence Day a bill with our first president on it can buy a collectible piece of history.”
