HAND-WRITTEN AUTOGRAPHED LETTER BY REICHSFUHRER HEINRICH HIMMER TO HIS MISTRESS W/DOCUMENT

Extremely rare and one-of-a-kind item: a hand-written, 1942-dated letter, written by Reichsfuhrer Heinrich Himmler to his mistress, Hedwig Potthast, in 1942, on stiff Himmler-titled personalized paper. This item was taken from Potthast, while she was a prisoner at the U.S. 7th Army Interrogation Center [Mobile Field Interrogation Unit #5, Major Paul Kubala, commanding] during the Summer of 1945 [between May 9th and July 31st) by her interrogator, G.K. Guennel. The note was then acquired by Donald F. Wood of Trussville, Alabama, on April 15, 1989, and is now made available for public auction. The note is written in German script, which is no longer taught in German schools, and was translated by Gunnel. Side one of the note, which is dated August 9, 1942 from Hegewald, says "My dear lttle bunny! I`m about to drive over and will call you and will hear your dear voice -- Quickly just a few lines regarding the parcel, they are all without value, but chosen with love; perhaps [second side] you can use them! An illustrated magazine is also enclosed and I`ll be with you in spirit when you lok at it. Say hello to our sweet one; hope he doesn`t hurt himself with his rattle. The one * barometer is for you - Thanks for your dear letter! Write again soon! I love you forever. Many thoughts of you and Walchi. Your *" [Note: Himmler often signed his name with an asterisk emblem.]
   Himmler separated from his 1st wife in 1940 without ever going through divorce proceedings, and he soon became attracted to a staff secretary named Hedwig Potthast, who left her position in 1941 and became Himmler`s mistress. Together, they had two children out-of-wedlock: son Hedge [born in 1942 and referred to in this note] and daughter Nanette Dorothea [born in 1944].
   This group comes with the original Xerox and a newer Xerox copy of the authenticity letter written by the interrogator, G. K. Guennel in 1989, attesting to the facts surrounding the retrival of this note. A once in a lifetime opportunity to obtain such an important piece of written material from Himmler himself in his own hand-writing.  Condition: 8
