ESTATE LOT THAT BELONGED TO WWI NURSE WHO SERVED OVERSEAS

This very nice grouping belonged to Ella Rose Childers (later Doster), who served overseas at a base hospital in France during WWI treating American wounded & later commanded an ambulance company. Originally a Red Cross nurse, she was commissioned into the US Army & after the war served out her 3-year military obligation w/ the 27th Infantry Division (NYNG) at New York City Hospital. Grouping includes her WWI-style OD wool overseas cap, pair of white gloves, her WWI dogtags, blackened bronze US & Army Nurse Corps collar devices, WWI Victory ribbon, New York State WWI Service medal, crucifix w/ beads, 2nd lieutenant bars (post-WWI style), embroidered on felt 27th Div. patch, Verdun pendant, cotton nurse`s cap (w/ red cross), panaramic photo (33-3/4 x 8-1/2") of US Army Base Hospital No. 37 (1st Red Cross unit to go overseas, Childres is 1st row, 2nd on the right), 4-1/2 x 8-1/2" portrait of her made in Paris, 7-1/2 x 5-1/2" photo of ambulance company, 1973 photo taken for newspaper article (2 years before her death), notebook w/ dated handwritten notes on patients, diagnosis & treatments (prior to her overseas service), period postcard w/ embroidered US QM emblem, more.
