JAPANESE ARMY 1ST LIEUTENANT`S FORMAL DRESS HAT

VG- example of a WW2 Japanese Army Officer`s formal dress hat but w/o plume] for a 1st Lieutenant. Approximate size 54-55, made of a dark blue-black fine wool, having gold-wire soutache in the shape of a 5-pointed star to top, golden-yellow wire soutache trim and rank stripes to band, stamped, hollow-back metal Rising Sun emblem to front [into which the feathered plume would fit], black patent leather chincord w/slides & gilt-finished steel side buttons w/cherry blossom to top, black visor [dried out], black bit worn thin leather sweatband with white silky ribbon running through it and tied in rear, and black satiny lining. Star soutache to top just a wee bit faded from sunlight, but still a decent display piece. Condition: 8
