TASHIO ENTHRONEMENT COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL W/RIBBON + ARMY PHOTO

VG example of the Tashio Enthronement Commemorative Medal, founded by Imperial Edict No. 154 on August 13, 1915 in preparation for the enthronement ceremonies held in November of that year in the old capital of Kyoto, awarded to those who officiated or served in connection with the enthronement [among others]. The medal is silver, 30mm in diameter, with obverse having the gilt chrysanthemum crest near top, crossed branches of mandarin orange and cherry, and long banners inscribed "Banzai!". The reverse has characters reading "Grand Enthronement/Commemorative Medal/Tashio 4th year/11th month" in four horizontal lines. The medal is suspended by a swivel and an ornamented silver suspender. The watered ribbon is 37mm wide, white, with a 12mm red center stripe and a 2mm red stripe 3mm from each edge, and has the uniform hook to rear. Medal displays some golden patina to front, bluish patina to rear. Comes with original B/W souvenir studio photo of an Army Private 2nd Class in uniform , seated in chair for the photographer, writing to the back. Condition: 8
