CASED ORDER OF THE RISING SUN, 6TH CLASS, W/RIBBON [CURRENT] + ARMY OFFICER PHOTO

Established by the Council of State Decree on April 10, 1875 and was used as a general order of merit to Japanese and foreigners. The Order of the Rising Sun and Order of the Sacred Treasure [and until recently, the Order of the Golden Kite] are STILL issued today by the Japanese government. This 6th Class medal is one of these. It is silver-plated and 46mm x 71mm in size, and has a 1.5mm red glass carochon in center. The 2.3mm x 2mm suspension has 3-5-3 purple enameled flowers above the green enameled Pawlonia leaves below, and has the usual four Japanese characters on the reverse. The 37mm white watered silk ribbon has red 8mm edge stripes with uniform hook to rear. MINT condition, with the plain balsa wood storage case that has padded maroon satin pillow display area. Comes w/original period B/W photo of an Army 2nd Lieutenant in uniform. Condition: 9
