JAPANESE CASED ORDER OF THE RISING SUN, 7TH CLASS, W/RIBBON + ARMY PHOTO

The Order of the Rising Sun, Japan`s first national decoration, was established by the Council of State Decree on April 10, 1975, and is a military as well as civil order of merit. It`s 31mm x 33mm, die struck, single sided, w/medallion of polished silver, purple enameled flowers in a 3,5,3 pattern, green enameled pawlonia leaves below have great detail. Reverse has Japanese four seal characters meaning "Order Of Merit Decoration". The ribbon is 37mm wide, watered silk material, white body w/7mm red stripes down each side and thin white edge, and has uniform hook to back. Very nice example! Hinged case is black lacquered wood w/gilt lettering on top of lid, complete w/bronze finished shield-shaped clasp to front, and has padded satin purple lid & purple velveteen form-fitted display platform. The back of the case lid above the hinge apparantly came loose at one time [from the glue drying out] and has been repaiured. Comes w/original B/W photo of Army Private 1st Class in uniform w/edged weapon at side. Condition: 8
