Colonel Griffin won the honor to pilot and land the first plane at the National Airport for American Airlines. Griffin, who later became the manager of National Airport in 1947. Grouping includes beautiful bullion embr. WWI pilot wing, beautiful pin back senior pilot wing with snowflake back, leather name tab `Bennett H. Griffin` with pilot wing, AAF officers `US` & winged propeller collar devices + bullion embr. US and winged propeller on cloth.
