Hard cover (9.75" x 8") with slip cover- Today the city of Trieste sits on the very northeastern border of Italy on the Slovenian border. As a very prosperous port city for last thousand years, Trieste has been coveted and conquered by various ruling Italians, Austrians, Slavs, Turks, and Germans over the centuries. Following the Second World War, Trieste was divided three ways: one part to Italy, another part to Yugoslavia, and the final partition was established as a Free and Independent Territory to be government by an Allied Military Government until the United Nations could appoint of Governor. In 1954, the Free State of Trieste was dissolved and divided between Italy and Yugoslavia. This covers the period of Allied Military Governance as a photo-documentary. Slip cover has split along the bottom, but the volume is still in good condition. A vere rare book with hundreds of b/w photos. Over 200 pp. Condition: 7
