"THE USS BATAAN" AIR CRAFT CARRIER IN THE PACIFIC THEATER DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR.
Click above image for full size photos below.
Deeply embossed hard cover- The planned name was to be USS Buffalo, but prior to her launch (July 15, 1943) she was reclassified USS Bataan CVL-29. The Bataan saw action throughout the Pacific, a service record which includes her contribution to the sinking of the Japanese Battleship Yamato on April 7, 1945. This is a unit history with plenty of b/w combat photos and a number of COLOR photos as well, which is a rarity for a book of the type. Immediate post-war publication.
