CASED JAPANESE FIRST NATIONAL CENSUS MEDAL W/RIBBON, 5 PRS. OF COLLAR TABS + PHOTO

This lot includes: 1) very nice example of the First National Census Medal, 30mm bronze material, die struck, double sided. The obverse shows, within the outline of a Chrysanthemum crest, the figure of a local official of the Taika era (about 645 A.D.). Reverse characters are "Taisho 9th year National Census Commemorative medal 10th month 1st day". Suspension has a leaf form with a ball and ring with attaches to the beautiful 37mm wide watered white ribbon having thick purple stripe near each edge, complete w/uniform hook to rear. Comes in the gold embossed balsa wood case, having form-fitted white velveteen display area. One end piece of the lid is missing; 2) mint lot of 5 uncut pairs of Army collar tabs for Private 1st Class [having two yellow woven stars into red ribbed base]; and 3) period B/W photo of a Superior Private pouring tea for several Seregeants. Removed from album. Ribbon is 37 mm. watered silk with 2 mm. white edges and three equal stripes of purple-white-purple. Case is a 2 pc. box w/a white velvet form fitted interior & gilt inscription on lid. Condition: 8
