Hard cover- "THE 31ST SPEARHEAD NAVAL CONSTRUCTION BATTALION"  Volume covers the hard working men of the 31st who constructed wartime bases from Hawaii to Iwo Jima to Japan. Embossed Cover has an attractive leatherette finish in burgundy, with an image in gold of Iwo Jima and the flag raising in the background and manned track loader in the foreground with "31st Spearhead" emblazoned across the scoop.  Album contains a great number of b/w photos of the islands where the battalion was stationed, as well as plenty of construction and DEstruction picture.  Also found is a four page "Sketch Diary" of reprinted hand drawn illustrations and text of the journey from "Hawaii to Iwo" by a member of the battalion.
Complete Roster present.  Printed in New York, Late 1940s(?).  Approx. 150 pp  Condition: 8
