IGOR I. SIKORSKY PHOTO AND PAPER GROUPING
Click above image for full size photos below.
Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky (25 May 1889 – 26 October 1972)was a Russian-American pioneer of aviation who designed and flew the world`s first multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft, developed the first of Pan American Airways` ocean-conquering flying boats in the 1930s, and spearheaded the development of helicopters using the most common configuration (single main rotor with vertical tail rotor). Although Igor Sikorsky ranks just short of the Wright brothers themselves as an aviation pioneer, he is best remembered as the first person to achieve volume helicopter production, a milestone his company accomplished in World War II. Grouping includes 2-1960`s dated and signed photos, several photos cut from magazines, bio of him, official newsreel phot of him and others, etc. For more information on this collection go to http://www.manions.com/block.htm.
