Its story runs from early 1942 until the crossing of the Rhine after the collapse of German resistance in 1945.  Preparations for and the landings on D-Days in Africa, Sicily and Normandy are dealt with.  The campaigns of Tunisia, Sicily, France and Germany are described from the "up front" angle."
