"STRIKE: THE STORY OF THE FIGHTING 17TH" WARTIME PRINTING IN AUSTRALIA.
Click above image for full size photos below.
Wonderfully embossed leatherette hard cover (large format)- The 17th Reconnaissance Squadron of the Fifth Air Force, flying primarily B-25s, fought in the South Pacific during the Second World War. This volume only covers the period of 1943 to 1944, while they were stationed on New Guinea, as the war had yet to reach its conclusion. This is a fantastic volume about the air war in the Pacific, and contains hundreds of b/w photos and maps documenting the 17th. This original volume is well preserved, with little sign of age, and should not be passed up by the serious WWII aviation collector. Printed in Australia by the Jackson & O`Sullivan Pty. Ltd, Late 1944 or Early `45 ["The 17th has been and will be in the foreground in operations with the Fifth Air Force until the conclusion of the war against the Japanese" page 180]. 270 pp. Condition: 9
