"90TH USN CONSTRUCTION BATTALION: IT`S HISTORY AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS, 1943-1945"

Embossed hard cover-  Largely a pictorial history of the 90th`s work establishing air bases across the pacific as the Allies advanced on the Japanese Empire.  This was, of course, extremely hard work, but also occasionally quite dangerous.  The 90th had to contend with Japanese air raids, which targeted the very Allied airstrips they constructed.  They were also involved in "delousing" (their words) operations on Iwo Jima, which means they had to extract the remaining Japanese hold-outs, by any means necessary, as well remove the remaining ordinance from the cave systems on the island.  An interesting book that gives a better picture of life as a WWII seabee.  Cover is a little soiled, book is in otherwise very good condition.  Army & Navy Pictorial Publishing Co., 1946 Approx 200.
