REMINGTON MODEL 4-S "AMERICAN BOY SCOUT" ROLLING BLOCK RIFLE, .22 SHORT

Rare variation of the scarce "Military Model". Famous and rugged Rolling Block action, single shot. 28" barrel. Rough bore from shooting corrosive ammo in the past. Not unusual for older .22`s. The blue finish has mostly aged to grey. Wood shows handling, but is free from cracks or fractures. Steel buttplate. Missing barrel band, handguard, and rear sight. Does have the bayonet stud. There is a small chip missing from the breechblock thumb lever, but the action is tight. One source says fewer than 1400 made of this model. The Blue Book shows the 4-S as chambered for S-L-LR. This model is specifically marked "22 Short" and a Long Rifle cartridge will not chamber. Perhaps another variation? A multiple appeal rifle for collectors of Remington, boy`s rifles, single shots, and especially Boy Scouting.  Condition: 6
