Very nice example of the Japanese WW1 Victory Medal, established by Japan by Imperial Edict No. 406 of September 17, 1920, to personnel who served w/zeal and merit in the Great War. 36mm in diameter, this bronze medal, w/an ovid eye, has the figure of "Take-Mikazuchi-no-Kami on the obverse, the reverse having the outline of a cherry blossum, a globe w/the flags of Japan, the U.S., Britain, Italy & France, each bearing the ideograph used to represent that nation, w/characters below meaning "and the other Allied and united nations". Around the edge are characters "Great War for Protection of Civilization, Taisho 3rd year to Taisho 9th year." The ribbon is 37mm wide, watered, of the common design of double rainbows connected by the center stripe of red and w/narrow white edges [the yellow portions are paler than on the Victory ribbons of other nations], and has the uniform hook w/catch to rear.
