ESTATE GROUPING OF DECORATED WW2/KOREAN WAR GENERAL - SIGNED J. EDGAR HOOVER LETTER & MORE

Part of a vast estate grouping, once belonging to MG Harlan Nelson Hartness, famed WW2 and Korean War General, to include: 1) a June 13, 1949 typed letter [on F.B.I. stationery] from Director J. Edgar Hoover to MG Hartness thanking him for his letter of comment regarding a presenation made to his intelligence students at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas` Command and General Staff College [where Hartness was Acting Commandant] by a member of the F.B.I., and HAND-SIGNED in black fountain pen by Hoover; 2) Hartness` promotion document as a temporary Lieutenant Colonel as of September 15, 1941, dated September 17, 1941, and hand-signed by the Adjutant General, Leo J. Holland; 3) official U.S. Army B/W press release photo taken of General Dwight D. Eisenhower reviewing 4th Division troops [commanded by Hartness] at Victory Stadium near Frankfurt, Germany, on May 3, 1952. It was taken by Fred Carbonetta of the 4th Signal Corps and pic info can be found on the reverse side; 4) smaller B/W photo of a group of ladies, one of which was the wife of General Hartness; 5) large B/W photo showing MG Hartness standing between a 1st Army LG to right and [I believe] Secretary of the Army Pace on the left. Photo has been affixed to large still white backing, which has 1st Army markings to rear; 6) small B/W photo of MG Hartness and some other officers walking between 4th Infantry Division soldiers in "present arms" position; 7) a July 19, 1935 check drawn on personal bank account [at Ft. Leavenworth] by Mrs. Hartness; and 8) 7 checks drawn on personal bank account [at Ft. Leavenworth] by Hartness himself, datung from July 20, 1935 until August 16, 1935, when he closed the account. All were hand-filled out in black fountain pen and signed. MG Hartness graduated from West Point in 1919, was promoted to BG in 1942, served with and commanded the 26th Infantry Division in 1945 [winning the Silver Star, Legion of Merit and 2 Bronze Star medals], later served as Assistant Commanding General of the 7th Division in Korea from 1946-1948, was named Commanding general of the 4th Division EUCOM in 1950, was promoted to MG in 1951 and retired in 1954. His foreign decorations include the Military Order of the White Lion from Czechoslovakia, and from France the Legion of Honor, Croix de Guerre w/Star and the Croix de Guerre w/Palms. Tremendous opportunity to obtain personal memorabilia from a noted U.S. General Officer involved in two wars. Condition: 9
