ESTATE GROUPING OF DECORATED WW2/KOREAN WAR GENERAL - PHOTO W/BG STARS, WATCHBAND & MORE

Part of a vast estate grouping, once belonging to MG Harlan Nelson Hartness, famed WW2 and Korean War General, to include: 1) riker mount containing nice official B/W photo of MG Hartness as 4th Division Commander, one of the textured silver-finished pinback stars belonging to the General and his brown leather wristwatch band [no watch]; 2) March 25, 1951 issue of "The Sunday Ledger Inquirer" from Columbus, Georgia, the front page talking about the 4th Division special review, w/Hartness pictured; 3) varied photo news clippings of Hartness when he was promoted to MG and when he left Ft. Leavenworth`s Command and General Staff College to assume command of the 4th Division; 4) a personal family photo showing the General`s wife with their 3 month old son, Teddy; 5) a photo taken from the air in Korea depicting a sighted enemy position; 6) a grouping of training materials, including overlay maps, problem maps and more, dtd. 1938-39, used by Hartness at the Command and General Staff School; and 7) a group of Christmas songs sheets used by Hartness` unit during the season. MG Hartness graduated from West Point in 1919, was promoted to BG in 1942, served with and commanded the 26th Infantry Division in 1945 [winning the Silver Star, Legion of Merit and 2 Bronze Star medals], later served as Assistant Commanding General of the 7th Division in Korea from 1946-1948, was named Commanding general of the 4th Division EUCOM in 1950, was promoted to MG in 1951 and retired in 1954. His foreign decorations include the Military Order of the White Lion from Czechoslovakia, and from France the Legion of Honor, Croix de Guerre w/Star and the Croix de Guerre w/Palms.
