G.A.R. MEDAL W/RIBBON

This particular G.A.R. medal is 38mm in diameter, silver-finished, w/obverse picturing a raised soldier in uniform w/rifle standing in front of two tents [background displays mirrored surfaces], while the reverse has raised image of the GAR member`s badge on mirrored surfaces, dated "1861-1865" and having the lettering "Fraternity - Charity - Loyalty" around the top. Efges are plain. Reverse side has some removeable tapr stains to it. Medal is connected by bronze ring to a gold ring affixed to 35mm wide red, white & blue watered ribbon having gilt brooch [pin is green oxidized]. Ribbon exhibits a stain spot to front and rear, medal`s edge displays a few dings. Cannot tell what this particular piece`s origin is, where it was used, when or for what. Decent display item. Condition: 7
