JAPANESE MEDAL: CASED ORDER OF THE RISING SUN, 8TH CLASS, W/RIBBON

The ORDER OF THE RISING SUN 8TH CLASS OF THE WHITE PAWLONIA LEAVES was established by the Council of State Decree on April 10, 1875, and is a military and civil order. It`s 31mm x 33mm, die struck, single sided, entire medallion is of polished silver, flowers in a 3,5,3, pattern, & pawlonia leaves have very good detail, marked on reverse w/Japanese characters "Order Of Merit Decoration". Original ribbon is 37mm wide, watered silk material, white body w/ 7mm red stripes down each side. Case is black lacquered wooden box w/hinged lid [having purple padding] & gilt inscription on top, purple velvet form fitted interior. Medal exhibits much rainbow patina.  Condition: 8
