ILLINOIS STATE 1910 FAIR MEDAL W/PENDANT CITING VALOR OF ILLINOIS SOLDIERS IN TWO WARS

This 39mm round silver-finished medal & pendant was given out at the Illinois State Fair in the early 1900`s by the Illinois State Board of Agriculture. The obverse has bas relief portraite of Union General George H. Thomas, and the reverse states that the medal commemorates the valor of Illinois soldiers in the Civil War [1861-65] and the Spanish-American War [1898-1901]. Maker marked on reverse at bottom "Childs, Chicago", and displays some finish wear. Silver ring connects to silver-finished pendant that has eagle superimposed over a ribbon reading "Illinois State Fair, 1910". Unmarked w/silver-finished pb w//open hook catch. Condition: 8
